What you need

  • 2 to 4 small cups or containers
  • Covers for the cups, such as paper or lids with a small sniff opening
  • 2 to 4 familiar smell items
  • 2 to 4 matching pictures that show the smell items

Setup

Then start the loop
Step 01
Put 2 familiar smell items into 2 separate small cups and cover each cup so your child cannot see inside but can still sniff from the top.
Step 02
Put the 2 matching pictures in a short row beside the cups where your child can see both choices at once.
Step 03
Sit with the cups between you and keep the pictures close enough that your child can point without standing up.
