Art: Inherited Ground at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum brings together weaving, painting, and shared observation of land in an intergenerational collaboration between Maggie Thompson (Fond du Lac Ojibwe) and her mother, Peggy Thompson. Maggie’s ribbon-and-bead textile works draw on Ojibwe floral design inspired by flowers growing in and around the Arboretum, while Peggy Thompson’s paintings focus on the soil, dirt, and earth that sustain them. The result is a dialogue between two distinct visual languages shaped by the same landscape.
