Art: Inherited Ground at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum features an intergenerational collaboration between Maggie Thompson (Fond du Lac Ojibwe) and her mother, Peggy Thompson. Their work combines weaving, painting, and shared observation of land: Maggie’s ribbon-and-bead textile pieces create Ojibwe floral designs inspired by flowers at the Arboretum, while Peggy’s paintings focus on the ground, dirt, and earth that sustain them. Together, the works explore two distinct visual languages and how they interpret the same environment.
