About this event
Art: Inherited Ground brings together weaving, painting, and shared observation of land in an intergenerational collaboration between Maggie Thompson (Fond du Lac Ojibwe) and her mother, Peggy Thompson. Using the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum as a common point of reference, the artists interpret the same environment through two distinct visual languages: Maggie’s woven textile works use ribbon and beads to create Ojibwe florals inspired by flowers growing in and around the Arboretum, while Peggy’s paintings focus on the ground, dirt, and earth that sustain them.
