About this event
Art: Inherited Ground brings together the work of Maggie Thompson (Fond du Lac Ojibwe) and her mother, Peggy Thompson, in an intergenerational collaboration rooted in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. The exhibition pairs Maggie’s woven textile works with ribbon and beads, inspired by flowers growing in and around the Arboretum, with Peggy’s paintings focused on the ground, dirt and earth that sustain them. Their shared project blends weaving, painting and observation of land through two distinct visual languages: Ojibwe floral design and painterly depictions of the Arboretum’s soil and terrain.
